Past Commander-in-Chief, Sons of Confederate Veterans
The Captain J. J. Dickison Camp #1387 is honored to announce that Larry McCluney, Jr., 76th Commander-in-Chief of the Sons of Confederate Veterans (2020–2022), will be our guest speaker for the 2027 Lee & Jackson Southern Heritage Dinner.
A member of the SCV for nearly thirty years, Commander McCluney is an Instructor of American History at Mississippi Delta Community College and has taught history for more than three decades at the secondary and community-college levels. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history from Mississippi State University and was named Mississippi’s Top American History Teacher by the Daughters of the American Revolution in 2014.
He is a former Chairman of the Combined Boards overseeing Beauvoir, the Jefferson Davis Home and Presidential Library in Biloxi, Mississippi, and has been an American Civil War living historian since 1995. He is the author of The Yazoo Pass Expedition: A Union Thrust into the Delta, On to Vicksburg!: The Mississippi Central Railroad Campaign, and In Defense of General Beauregard.
